Event Date: 1st April 2018
Location: AWE Aldermaston
2018 is the 60th anniversary of CND. Join us on Easter Sunday at the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston, the target of anti-nuclear campaigners in every decade since the founding of CND in the 1950s.
Come and celebrate the 60th year of one of the world’s most powerful collective voices against nuclear weapons.
Let’s make this a major celebration of CND’s 60 year history, with a very clear message relevant to today. Salisbury CND supporters please contact Caroline if you intend to go, so that we can see what transport arrangements might be best.
Assemble at 12 noon
AWE Aldermaston, West Berkshire RG7 4PR
Join us to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first Aldermaston march – an event that mobilised thousands against the Bomb and shaped radical protest for generations. We will mark the anniversary with speeches, poems, music and memories, and we’ll look to the future too, as we continue our struggle to rid Britain – and the world – of nuclear weapons. We’ll be joined by fantastic choir Côr Cochion and samba band Tribo. It will also be a great opportunity to see the massive CND symbol installation towering over the nuclear weapons establishment. It has been specially commissioned for our 60th anniversary year.
Please assemble at the Main Gate of AWE Aldermaston from 12 noon. Speeches will begin at 12:30 and the event will conclude around 2pm.
If you are driving, parking in the area is limited but spaces should be found in the streets nearby, especially near Tadley Gate.
