A celebration of Pat Arrowsmith: the extraordinary peace activist

CND invites you to join us for an evening celebrating the life and work of Pat Arrowsmith, the extraordinary peace campaigner and organiser of the first Aldermaston March in 1958, the single event that most put CND on the public map at that time.


We’ll hear from friends and colleagues of Pat from various avenues of her campaigning and political life. Afterwards, your are invited to join us for a drink and share your memories of Pat, as well as view the current LSE Library exhibition, featuring items from the papers of Pat Arrowsmith.

Speakers include: Steve Bell, Pat’s election agent when she ran as an Independent Socialist candidate against the sitting prime minister Jim Callaghan, in Cardiff South and Penarth; Francie Molloy, MP for Mid-Ulster, remembering Pat’s longstanding commitment to the struggle for Irish freedom; Lindsey German, Stop the War Coalition convenor. Introduced by Kate Hudson; and chaired by Professor Christine Chinkin and Dr Louise Arimatsu.
