Protest at Westminster Abbey

Posted: 3rd May 2019

Many hundreds of people gathered at Westminster Abbey today in protest at the Thanksgiving Service for 50 years of at sea Nuclear Deterrence.  The protesters were kept segregated from the large number of naval personnel, politicians and Prince William.  The protesters made their presence known, as they registered their disgust at this thoughtless celebration of weapons of Mass Destruction, hosted by the Dean of Westminster.  CND organised a “die in” to emphasise the indiscriminate nature of nuclear weapons and a series of excellent speakers spoke of the growing risks associated with these weapons.  Many tourists were drawn to explore what the protests were about.

Here is a short video to give a flavour of events.
