You’re invited to join our allies at the Global Campaign on Military Spending (GCOMS) UK for a presentation by Professor Ron Smith from Birkbeck University of London to discuss the future of military spending in the UK. With the Labour Government pledging to increase military spending to 2.5% of GDP – with the support of other political parties, the UK is set to spend billions of pounds more on the military in coming years, despite already spending more than £100,000 every minute of the year.
The Future of Military Spending in the UK: Annual General Meeting of GCOMS UK

Professor Ron Smith is Defence and Political Economist, author and expert on the UK military spending landscape. We are delighted that he will be able to join GCOMS UK’s AGM (annual general meeting) to discuss the ongoing Strategic Defence Review as well as identifying areas where military spending could be reduced.
There will be time for questions and discussion following the talk.
