Before the Covid-19 crisis struck, millions were already suffering from the effects of climate breakdown and obscene inequality. The pandemic confirms everything we know about the cruelty of the global economy, and the visceral injustices of our societies.
In the coming weeks War on Want and The Leap, alongside our partners, will be launching our exciting new campaign – Global Green New Deal: from Crisis to Justice. Together, we will create a people’s plan to reimagine and transform the global economy, based on the principles of a just recovery and transition from the current crises, which guarantees the right to a dignified life for all.
We want you to be part of this journey. Join us live on Tuesday 19 May at 4pm (GMT+1) for Global Green New Deal: Into the Portal, Leave No One Behind, where, together with Arundhati Roy and Naomi Klein, we’ll discuss how we can begin to imagine this global transformation.
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to take and disrupt lives, it is those who are least protected and least able to access healthcare who face the heaviest burden. In times of disaster and global crisis, it is always the poorest, the oppressed, and those under occupation, who are most affected.
The call for justice is ringing ever louder from each corner of the globe. This moment must be a catalyst for tansformational change to build a safe, fair and just world.
