Stop Bombing Iran: public meeting 5 August

Trump’s recent escalation in the war on Iran is extremely dangerous.

But now, after two weeks of bombing with critical support from British bases, a fragile ‘pause’ in hostilities has been announced. This is our opportunity to maximise pressure on Burnham’s government to cut support for Trump’s war and prioritise welfare not warfare.

Join this online public meeting on Wednesday 5 August, 6.30pm (the day before Hiroshima day) to discuss the latest situation and what we do about it.

Speakers include: Shabbir Lakha (Stop the War), Atefeh Zandi (Iranians Against War), Sophie Bolt (CND), and Maryam Eslamdoust (TSSA General Secretary).

Register on Zoom to attend.

The crisis of US foreign policy and Trump’s unpredictability should lead us to greater concern, not less. Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen have become embroiled in the war, joining Israel and Lebanon, while Iran has said it sees Britain as a target.

Just this weekend, Ukraine hit an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea. More actions like this could link up the two major imperialist wars across the world. This is the future if we do not stop it now.

We hope to see you all at this crucial online meeting on 5 August, 6.30pm

In solidarity,

Stop the War Coalition
