The Right Livelihood Award
The
Right Livelihood Award was established in 1980 to “
honour and support courageous people solving global problems”. It has become widely known as the
‘Alternative Nobel Prize’ and there are now 178 Laureates from 70 countries.
The Medellin Poetry Festival
The Medellin Poetry Festival
received the Right Livelihood Award in 2006 for ‘
showing how creativity, beauty, free expression and community can flourish amongst and overcome even deeply entrenched fear and violence.’
