To mark the 10th anniversary of Drone Wars UK, we are holding an online conversation to examine the use of armed drones and where campaigners should be focusing their efforts over the coming years. We will be joined by experts who will address the issues of increasing proliferation, autonomy and civilian harm. We need you to be part of the conversation too!

Panellists:
Chris Cole is the Founder and Director of Drone Wars UK. He is convener of the Drones Campaign Network, a trustee of the Trust for Research and Education on Arms Trade and a board member of the international Catholic organisation, Pax Christi.
Aditi Gupta is the Coordinator for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Drones. Aditi leads the Group’s work on keeping the legality of the use of force, outcomes for civilian protection and obligations when assisting partners high on the Parliamentary agenda. The scope and work of the Group looks comprehensively at the implications of drone and military technology use combined with other ‘remote’ measures, such as conventional airstrikes, explosive weapons in populated areas and covert Special Forces operations.
Ella Knight was a researcher and campaigner in Amnesty International’s Military, Security and Policing Team from 2017 to 2019. During this time she co-authored Amnesty’s report ‘The hidden US war in Somalia: Civilian casualties from air strikes in Lower Shabelle’, and conducted advocacy with the US Government on the urgent need for accountability and remedy for attacks on civilians. Prior to that, Ella worked in Amnesty’s Middle East and North Africa Programme, where she focused on the human rights situation in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
Elke Schwarz is a Lecturer in Political Theory at Queen Mary’s, University of London. Elke’s research focuses on the political and ethical implications of new technologies, with a focus on digital technologies and autonomous systems.
Rachel Stohl is Vice President at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC. She directs the Center’s work on drone policy and has written and spoken extensively on U.S. drone policy and the development of international drone export controls and use standards
