International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

Event Date: 26th September 2021
Location: Aldermaston and Burghfield AWE

On September 26th we’ll be marking the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons by taking action at nuclear sites across the country, as part of Nuke Free Europe’s month of action.

It’s a chance to highlight the government’s twisted priorities — increasing its number of nuclear warheads while refusing nurses a proper pay deal.

We will target the sites listed below, working with Scottish CND, and we can’t do this without you! If you’re able to take action or co-ordinate activities at one of the places please get in touch with Sara at [email protected].

  • Aldermaston
  • Burghfield
  • Faslane
  • Coulport
  • Fylingdales
  • Devonport
  • Barrow-in-Furness
  • Rolls Royce plant in Derby
  • Sellafield

If there is another relevant site near you and you’d like to take action there on September 26th, that would be great.

Likewise, if there is a better date locally for your action in September, feel free to arrange on that date as part of the month of action.

We have Nurses not Nukes materials for you to use on the day — including t-shirts, leaflets, posters and stickers. Do get in touch!

The Nuke-Free Europe network is coordinating a month of action this September to highlight the presence of nuclear weapons stationed across the continent. Here in the UK, CND will be shining a spotlight on the nuclear chain by encouraging action at nuclear sites across the country on September 26th, the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

This is an opportunity to highlight the government’s twisted priorities –increasing its number of nuclear warheads during a pandemic while refusing to pay nurses properly.

Our bases to highlight are – AWE Aldermaston and AWE Burghfield on Sunday 26th September.

Please gather at –

3.00pm – main gate AWE Aldermaston – Reading Road, RG7 4PR
