A LOSING BATTLE: THE UK ARMS TRADE AND GLOBAL POLITICS

Our speaker is Kirsten Bayes,  a Local Outreach Coordinator for Campaign Against Arms Trade’s (CAAT). She has been involved in CAAT’s work as a volunteer and staff member for some ten years, including organising against the DSEI arms fair in London. She is also Vice Chair of Nuclear Information Service, which provides information and analysis about the UK’s nuclear weapons.

Kirsten’s talk will include:

• UK arms trade: what it is, its role in UK power politics
• Integrated Defence Review, changing military strategy and equipment
• Afghanistan: reflections
