COP26 Protests

War and militarism are amongst the unnamed enemies of our ecosphere. The US military is the biggest single consumer of oil on the planet and the last two decades of war have polluted on an unimaginable scale. It is therefore scandalous that military emissions are being excluded from the discussions at the COP26 Summit. If we want to end warming, we need to end war.

That’s why Stop the War is joining a broad and growing coalition of peace and environmental organisations for a protest on Thurs 4 November in Glasgow. Join us on the Buchanan Steps Buchanan Street, in front of the Royal Concert Hall from 4-5pm.

There will also be a anti-war and peace bloc on the Glasgow demo on Nov 6. Exact meet up to be announced shortly.

Over 400 organizations and 20,000 people have already signed the petition that will be announced at the event. Addressed to COP26 participants that reads, in part, “We ask COP26 to set strict greenhouse gas emissions limits that make no exception for militarism.”
