URGENT: Global day of action for Ukraine this Saturday, 9th April

As the war in Ukraine continues into its second month, CND, along with its partners in the international peace movement, are having a second global day of action this Saturday 9th April.

CND is encouraging its supporters to hold local actions across the country, and is asking all our groups to call protests, vigils, demonstrations, stalls or petitioning sessions. A list of actions can be found here. Please let us know about your event as soon as possible so we can advertise.

In addition to these actions, there will be a global online rally against the war at 5PM UK time, with a line up of fantastic and internationally recognised anti-war speakers. Book your place here.

Speakers to include: Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary; Noam Chomsky, author, linguist, social critic and activist; Yuri Sheliazhenko, Executive Secretary of the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement and a board member of the European Bureau for Conscientious Objection; Alexey Sakhnin, a Russian activist and a member of the Progressive International Council and Socialists Against War; Clare Daly, Irish politician, Member of the European Parliament; Richard Boyd Barret, Irish politician and President of the Irish Anti-War Movement;  Lindsey German, Stop the War Coalition; Yanis Varoufakis, economist and politician, former Greek Minister of Finance; Tariq Ali, writer, journalist and film-maker; Reiner Braun, executive director of the International Peace Bureau; Anuradha Chenoy, former dean at School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Vijay Prashad, director at Tricontinental Institute, historian and author; Medea Benjamin, co-founder at CODEPINK, author and activist.

The war in Ukraine is at risk of escalating into a wider global conflict at any moment. We are at a life or death moment for humanity and we urge you to do everything you can to oppose this war and to oppose the use of nuclear weapons.
