"How to Get our Councils to Support the TPNW"

Dear Peace Group supporter, Here’s what we are doing tomorrow night, Tuesday 19th July, on-line. We hope you can join us!
Over a year ago, in November 2020, Rebecca Johnson was the speaker at our meeting on “TPNW – What Next?” which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/f_7m3jy79yM
In January 2021 we stood in a frosty Abingdon market place in our masks, to mark the coming into force of the TPNW. Our banners & placards read, “GOOD NEWS – Nuclear Weapons are now ILLEGAL under International Law!” Last month, the “First Meeting of States Party” to the TPNW (Treaty to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons) took place in Vienna, a real milestone in nuclear disarmament, and much-needed good news.
Our online meeting tomorrow night , “How to Get our Councils to Support the TPNW” is an hour earlier than usual, i.e.starting promptly at 7pm, and is being hosted by CND, so to join you need to click this link in advance to register: How to get our councils to support the TPNW – CND workshop – (cnduk.org)
This came about because we invited Rebecca Johnson to be our speaker again, and tell us what happened – she agreed, then realised that it was the same evening as the CND workshop on TPNW, at which she is one of the main speakers. The meeting will be facilitated by Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary, and is Co-organised with the NFLA (Nuclear Free Local Authorities).
CND’s workshops are generally done without video participation by us, so you can eat your supper while you watch! (Or do your ironing if you are Susie!). They generally last 1 hour. Then from 8.30pm to 9pm after you have had a break and a leg stretch, we will meet online on our usual Zoom link to digest what we have heard and make plans to invite our own councils to sign up.
