Event Date: 18th October 2022
Location: Outside Brighton Conference Centre 12:30 pm
A motion calling for ‘immediate increases in defence spending’ will be put to the Trade Union Congress this week. We believe this is a dangerous development and are urging all delegates and trade unionists to oppose the Defending Manufacturing Jobs motion.
We support government action to assist British manufacturing and increasing skilled employment in the sector, but we believe that this can be accomplished by means other than increasing spending on weapons. It is vital that the trade union movement is seen to stand for peace and for the social priorities of the British people.
That’s why we’re going to be lobbying delegates outside Brighton Conference Centre at lunchtime on the opening day of the Congress (Tues 18 Oct). Make sure you join us to say: Welfare Not Weapons – No Increase In Military Spending!
