The war in Ukraine gives rise to important new issues which impact on working people directly and powerfully. It’s vital that the trade unions remain central to the anti-war movement at this time. However, some unions are prioritising increasing military spending, despite the mounting economic crisis and cuts to our public services, including the education sector.
Our National Education Union fringe meeting on Monday (3 April) takes place ahead of Tuesday’s international debate on Motion 29. The meeting will explore these issues with a view to rallying trade unionists behind the movement for peace, a movement which connects the daily concerns of unions and their members like never before.
