Abingdon Peace Group Hiroshima Day

Event Date: 6th August 2023
Location: St Ethelwolds House this Sunday 3 - 5 pm

Dear Peace Group supporters,
This is just to re-iterate that you are all very welcome to call in to St Ethelwolds House this Sunday afternoon between 3 and 5 for a cup of tea, a piece of cake and a look at the displays of photos, leaflets and newsletters we have assembled from the last 43 years of campaigning! We have been having fun spotting faces we had forgotten, and trying to remember which march we were on in London…

If making cakes is your thing, do bring a cake, but if not, do come anyway, whether you are a regular at Peace Group meetings or haven’t been near us for 20 or 30 years. No recriminations! We may well speak about Mike Bloom, but his funeral will be on Monday 14th August at 3pm in the South Oxfordshire Crematorium in Garford.

We will have our usual vigil on Sunday 6th morning, this time starting at 8.15am, the time the bomb exploded over Hiroshima. This will most likely be instead of the Monday vigil for Ukraine.

There is also a small ceremony in Oxford at 11am at the Peace Plaque in Bonn Square, and all are welcome to that too.

We look forward to seeing many friends, past, present and future, at St Eth’s on Sunday afternoon!

Sally and the Forward Planning group.
