Nuclear budgets & divestment, the International Court of Justice case on climate change and the UN Summit of the Future

Session 1: Move the Nuclear Weapons Money

10:15-11:15 am Central Europe Time

This session is part of an international campaign to cut nuclear weapons budgets, end investments in the nuclear weapons industry and re-invest in peace, climate protection and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
 

Session 2: International Court of Justice Climate Case and the UN Summit of the Future

This session will discuss how best to use the current International Court of Justice case on climate change to build legal and political protection for current and future generations and to fast-track policies to phase out fossil fuels. We will also discuss how to make progress on peace, nuclear disarmament and security issues in the 2024 UN Summit of the Future and the preparatory processes for it.

The discussion will include a focus on connections between the ICJ case on climate change and the UN Summit, and how they can support each other to effect positive policy change.
