Selling death: why we must resist the DSEI arms fair – CND webinar
The Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) – one of the world’s biggest arms fairs – returns to ExCel London this September. Among the 1700+ exhibitors planning to set up shop include key firms involved in maintaining and upgrading Britain’s nuclear weapons system such as BAE Systems. Others will be marketing their wares – from armoured cars and missiles to sniper rifles and tear gas – to some of the world’s most repressive regimes.
CND’s next webinar will discuss what DSEI is, how arms fairs contribute to global instability, and why peace campaigners must resist the return of DSEI to London.
With guest speakers including: Rokhsana Fiaz, Mayor of Newham; Richard Norton-Taylor, former Guardian defence and security editor, Board of DeclassifiedUK; and Kirsten Bayes, Local Outreach Co-ordinator, Campaign Against Arms Trade. Chaired by Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary.
Days of action against the arms fair will take place between 4-15 September. Find out more here.
