Don’t put Britain on the nuclear front line! Join the day of action on 23 September

Event Date: 23rd September 2023
Location: Outside Salisbury Library, 10:30 am

Salisbury Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament will be meeting up in front of Salisbury Library at 10:30am, Saturday 23rd September, to play their part in informing the public about the planned return of U.S. nuclear weapons to the UK.  We will be inviting people to sign a petition and will be distributing information about these major plans that have been framed without any parliamentary debate.

The UK has been cleared of U.S. nuclear weapons before, via protest, and it essential that public opinion again forces plans for such weapons to return to our soil to be scrapped.

The return of US nuclear weapons to Lakeanheath airbase in Suffolk is not just a local issue but one for everyone in Britain.

Having US nuclear weapons here in the UK puts us on the frontline of any war between US/NATO and Russia, and makes a nuclear attack on us more likely. In a nuclear conflict, it is probable that Lakenheath would be targeted, followed by strikes on cities across the country.

After three national demonstrations at Lakenheath, CND is calling on groups and supporters to hold a day of action in their own communities on Saturday 23 September, highlighting the risks posed by this nuclear escalation.
