Help Sustain Our Work – Join Stop the War Today
We are proud of our role as one of the main organising bodies of demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine and will continue with our campaign against the brutal attacks on Gaza.
But we need your help. Campaigning costs and our funds are limited. Your help is vital for us to continue our work. If you are not already, please consider joining Stop the War as a member today.
Volunteer with Stop the War on Saturday
Once again Stop the War will be needing volunteers on the day. Please contact us if you can help.
The Israeli government is poised to launch its ground invasion of Gaza. It will compound the already deadly air strikes that have resulted in the deaths of at least 4000 Palestinians.
This week both Joe Biden and Rishi Sunak rushed to Tel Aviv to endorse Israeli war crimes, declaring that Israel was doing everything to protect civilian casualties and that it had a right to defend itself.
But schools, churches, homes, bakeries and offices have all been targeted during the past 13 days in an unprecedented onslaught which has seen Israel drop the equivalent of a quarter of a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip - an area just 365 km². You’d think this would be totally indefensible by anyone’s standards. Yet the western powers are content to permit these actions.
This week reached a new low. Despite their denials, it’s difficult to believea military with such a track record did not bomb Al-Ahli hospital on Tuesday, which as well as tending to the injured, sick and needy was sheltering hundreds of children. It was an act of unspeakable horror. But it was far from the only one.
Our government and those around the world who support Israel have misjudged the mood of the people who are rising up globally to express their outrage and disgust at such heinous violence.
There have been gigantic demonstrations from Aden to Athens, from Barcelona to Baghdad. Tomorrow is the turn of London and for the people of the UK to get onto the streets. Join us to express our horror at these attacks and send our enduring solidarity to the Palestinians.
Government and police attempts to restrict our protest will fail due to sheer weight of numbers. More than 150,000 people joined us last week in a tremendous and diverse display of solidarity and compassion. We expect more people tomorrow. See you on the streets.
