A London Anti-War Convention
The US and British bombing of Yemen is widening the war in the Middle East.
As a response to spreading war and the continuing genocide of Palestinians, hundreds of activists from across the capital and beyond will come together in East London this weekend for an anti-war convention.
Join us at The Atrium, near Brick Lane, this Sunday as we bring together key activists and experts to assess the grave situation and examine how the anti-war movement can rise to these new challenges.
We are very pleased that the panel will now be joined by Jeremy Corbyn MP and British Palestinian activist, Leanne Mohamad.
Other speakers include Daniel Kebede (NEU Gen Sec), writer and academic Ghada Kharmi, StWC’s John Rees, Claudia Webbe MP, Richard Boyd-Barrett (Irish TD), Andrew Feinstein (Shadow World) and more to be announced.
The discussion will be followed by breakout groups helping to strengthen organisation in every corner of the capital – so don’t delay, make sure you reserve your spot now!
We will have leaflets in the office next week and are urging all local groups and activists in London to help us with building the convention. Please get in touch and come and pick up some leaflets if you can organise a flyering session!
This Sunday: London Anti-War Convention
Israel’s war on Gaza is destabilising the entire Middle East. The US and the UK have now been bombing Yemen, one of the poorest countries in the world, for weeks. Attacks on Lebanon are intensifying and there have been strikes on Iraq and Syria. The possibility of the war spreading further to include Iran raises the spectre of a nuclear war in the Middle East.
This is why we are holding an anti-war convention on Sunday 28 January. The Convention will be an opportunity for activists and experts to come together to discuss the increasingly dangerous situation in the Middle East and examine how the anti-war movement can rise to these new challenges. Breakout sessions will examine how best you can build the movement to support the Palestinians and campaign against a wider Middle East war.
Speakers include Daniel Kebede (NEU Gen Sec), writer and academic Ghada Kharmi, StWC’s John Rees, Claudia Webbe MP, Richard Boyd-Barrett (Chair of the Irish Anti-War Movement), Andrew Feinstein (Shadow World) and more.

Please note that due to the nature of this event we have decided to incorporate the StW activist meeting (scheduled for Friday 19 January) into the Convention. Friday’s activist’s meeting will therefore no longer go ahead. This way we can focus our attention, resources and organisational capacity on the wider issues facing the anti-war movement.
