Hiroshima Day Candle Float

Event Date: 6th August 2024
Location: Salisbury, Fisherton Street Bridge, SP1 2ND at 8:45

Salisbury CND’s annual remembrance of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which we mark by floating candles and lanterns on the River Avon each year.

The event will be held on Tuesday, 6th August at 8.45pm, at Fisherton Street Bridge, SP1 2ND.

Do come and join us for this very special event.  We anticipate that our own lanterns will be joined by lanterns prepared by school students from Kyoso Junior High School in Hiroshima.  It should be a very moving occasion.  Do read the letter that the Mayor of Hiroshima has sent us.  We are honoured to have this letter and hugely appreciate him sending it to us. It is beneath the links to the poster and leaflet.  Also, there are pictures from Kyoso Junior High School, showing the students working on the lanterns they have sent us together with a record of the lanterns that have arrived ahead of our event.

The Salisbury Journal coverage of our coming event can be seen here; https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/24474099.hiroshima-nagasaki-candle-float-event-returns-salis…
