You’re invited to celebrate the International Day of Peace with us on Saturday, September 21 in Wanfried, Germany for our annual global conference, #NoWar2024: Resisting the USA’s Military Empire! #NoWar2024 will bring together activists from dozens of countries to examine the impacts of the USA’s network of foreign military bases. 40+ speakers from around the world will address the social, ecological, economic, and geopolitical impacts of U.S. military bases in their regions, plus the powerful stories of nonviolent resistance to prevent, close, and convert bases to peacetime uses.
The September 21 event in Wanfried, Germany is part of 3 days of sessions across 4 cities, from September 20-22. When you register to join us in Wanfried, Germany, your ticket also includes the Zoom link for the other sessions throughout the weekend.
The Wanfried section of the conference will be in English with German translation on-site and Spanish interpretation on Zoom. The other sections of the conference will only have English and Spanish interpretation.

14:30-15:45 CEST: Session #1: U.S. and NATO Imperialism across Europe
This session will explore the impact of U.S. and NATO military expansionism across Europe. Featuring:
- Glenn Diesen, Norwegian academic and political scientist
- Karl Heinz Peil, campaigner with Stopp Air Base Ramstein and creator of Visualbases.org
- Heike Hänsel, former member of the German Bundestag
- Maria Cernat and Florina Tufescu, World BEYOND War Romania Chapter Co-Coordinators

16:00-17:15 CEST: Session #2: Nonviolent Resistance to Stop Bases in Europe
In this session, organizers from across Europe will share examples of effective nonviolent strategies and tactics used for successfully preventing military bases or military training grounds across the region, as well as ongoing anti-bases movements. Featuring:
- Jan Tamáš of the No to Bases Initiative that successfully blocked a U.S. military base in the Czech Republic
- Persida Jovanovic and Milan Sekulovic of the Save Sinjajevina campaign that successfully blocked a NATO military training ground in the beautiful mountain pastures of Montenegro
- Bernhard Trautvetter, who will speak about ongoing movements in Germany to close the Ramstein and Büchel bases
- Reiner Braun, former Executive Director of the International Peace Bureau, who will speak about upcoming opportunities to take action in Germany
