Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament

We are still accepting donations for this year’s Hiroshima & Nagasaki Appeal. All the money raised from this appeal will go towards CND’s critical work raising awareness of the lives that have already been destroyed by nuclear weapons.

Last month, CND groups all around the country held vigils to commemorate the victims who lost their lives when the US dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, either in the initial explosions or due to radiation-related illnesses. Sharing the testimonies of the hibakusha, the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, is a core area of activity for CND. We do this not only to honour the people who lost their lives, but also to remind the world of the unique threat posed to humanity by nuclear weapons.

Sadly, the threat of nuclear weapons being used again is only growing. Andy Burnham, the new Prime Minister, intends to continue with plans to purchase a new generation of nuclear-armed fighter jets whilst already wasting billions of pounds on Trident renewal. Far from keeping us safer, this only further risks dragging Europe into a deadly, global nuclear arms race.

Please, consider donating to CND today and help us to build the movement for a world free from nuclear weapons and pointless wars of destruction.

In peace,
Sophie Bolt
General Secretary
