  • Join us and the Palestine coalition on the eve of Andy Burnham’s first Labour conference as PM. Let’s make it clear the mass movement for Palestine will continue until our demands are met and there is justice for Palestine.

Get organising for the next national demonstration for Palestine in London on Saturday 10 October - part of a global day of protest for Palestine marking three years of the genocide.

Ed Miliband has acknowledged that three years of mass protests for Palestine played a significant role in the Burnham government’s decision to introduce sanctions on Israel last week. But this action is far from enough. We need the government to recognise Israel is committing genocide and to impose comprehensive sanctions, including a full arms embargo. The government is shifting their position – we must keep pushing.

The day marks the three year anniversary of the Israeli genocide in Gaza. We need to ensure the protest is massive and get as many unions with their banners there as possible – join the union bloc at Cleopatra’s Needle.

Welfare not Warfare at the TUC

At the TUC Congress this week UCU’s motion against increasing arms spending passed with an even greater majority than last years’ wages not weapons motion. The government and military talk of war coming to our shores as inevitable. They tell us to stockpile food and water, while failing to recognise that true security comes from having food on the table, a roof over one’s head and a job that pays a decent wage. The defeat for the pro-military unions shows how working people in this country understand the reality of the push to war and what it means for them.

As Stop the War’s officer, Alex Gordon said during the debate, “We will not build a future for our children, we will not build a future for our fellow trade unionists, by building nuclear bombs, by spending billions on American F35 fighters which are destroying the people of Palestine at this very moment.”

Delegates also voted to back a Palestinian-led BDS motion, calling for an escalation in the workplace to end the complicity of companies, institutions and the government in Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people and for support for the next
