Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament

US bombers leave RAF Fairford

CND welcomes the removal of US long-range bombers from RAF Fairford – this is something we have long campaigned for. This also extends to the removal of US nuclear weapons – now stationed at RAF Lakenheath – US fighter jets, personnel and US military control of RAF bases. It’s time to end the uncontrolled and unaccountable foreign military presence in this country.

Help us spread awareness by sharing our statement on social media: Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, Threads, and X.

People not Nukes: let’s prioritise real security – CND webinar, 20 October

Following the successful launch of our People not Nukes report at the TUC, we’re bringing together trade unions, health workers and climate campaigners all calling for a new direction from the government ahead of the autumn statement.

With the cost-of-living crisis deepening and threats of welfare cuts, we need to increase the pressure on Burnham to halt military spending hikes and nuclear expansion.

Join us for this important online meeting!

With speakers: Maryam Eslamdoust, TSSA; Denis Fernando, Friends of the Earth; and Dr Rathi Guhadasan, Socialist Health Alliance. Chaired by Sophie Bolt, CND.

International Day for Palestine – Join the protest in London this Saturday!

The global movement for Palestine is taking to the streets of cities across the world in an international day of solidarity on Saturday, 10 October. The Palestine Coalition is mobilising supporters to join us in London.

At last week’s Labour Party Conference, Foreign Secretary Ed Milliband vindicated those who have been advocating for justice for Palestinians, saying they “were right.” Now it’s time for the government to step up: impose sanctions on and end its arms trade with Israel.

Shut down US bases! Kick out Trump’s spy station! Join CND at Menwith Hill, Saturday 24 October

Join CND, Yorkshire CND and the Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign for a day of action against US bases on Saturday, 24 October. We’ll be saying no to Trump’s Missile Defence and calling on the British government to close down Trump’s spy base in Britain!

The day will include a public meeting in Harrogate from 12 noon to 2pm. After a break, transport will take everyone to Menwith Hill for a protest at 3pm and return you back to Harrogate at 4pm.

Registering in advance is essential so we can book enough transport to and from the base.

What is Menwith Hill?
Based in Yorkshire, it is the largest US spy base in the world, outside of the US. It forms part of the US National Missile Defence System, what Trump now calls the ‘Golden Dome’. It can detect, track, and target ballistic missiles and is a key part in the US’ ability to launch nuclear weapons without fear of retaliation.

It also has the capability to intercept communications from foreign satellites and monitor wireless communications on the ground like mobile phones and wi-fi traffic.

Satellites that feed data to Menwith Hill are being used to intercept electronic communications in the Middle East, to assist the US/Israeli illegal war on Iran. It is also highly likely it has been carrying out a similar role in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Join us on the 24 October to learn more about this secretive base and join the campaign to get it shut down for good!
