Will NuScale’s VOYGR, its 77MW small modular reactor, ever set sail? As stocks founder, it’s looking less and less likely, writes Linda Pentz Gunter

There are few examples quite as sorry in the long saga of “nothing happening” when it comes to small modular reactors as that of NuScale and its VOYGR reactor. It already foundered once, after 16 years and $800 million when the whole scheme collapsed in 2023. Now it’s back, with the company fighting a class action lawsuit for defrauding investors and stocks sinking. Fluor, its early majority owner, has sold all of its 126 million shares in NuScale, not exactly a vote of confidence.
