This week we announced additional speakers from Ireland, France, Germany and the UK.

Richard Boyd-Barrett, Teachta Dála in the People Before Profit Party

French school student, eyewitness to the protests across France

Jules El-Khatib, Vice President of the German-Palestinian Society

Jo Grady, General Secretary of the University & College Union

They will be joining French LFI MPs Jérôme Legavre and Danièle Obono, Greek docker Giorgos Gogos, German trade unionist Ulrike Eifler and key British trade unionist and activists.

The world is in a precarious state: Trump has threatened to resume attacks on Iran after the November mid-terms, while the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen is becoming increasingly serious, the targeting of Riyadh airport shows this conflict is escalating out of control.

Today (Friday) Ukraine’s president Zelensky is asking for yet more military assistance from EU leaders – already the EU has handed over $150 billion to support the war, half of Ukraine’s arms budget. Daily we receive news of the ‘Russian threat’ to justify this expense, and are repeatedly asked ‘are you willing to fight’. War fever is in overdrive.

The growing revolt in Europe is joining the dots between war and austerity – Palestine flags and anti-war placards have been seen on French student protests and the housing demonstrations in Spain. Come along to the rallies and hear from European activists on how they are challenging the war hysteria.

Make sure your union gets onboard

The tour is being supported by a growing number of trade union branches. Is yours one of them? Supporters added this week include: Manchester Trades Council, Edinburgh TUC, Preston & South Ribble Trades Council and West Suffolk Trades Council.

Ensure you take the anti-war motion to your next branch meeting.

Make your support visible. Bring your banners to the anti-war rallies.

Don’t forget to let us know if the motion passes at your branch so we can add you to the list.

Eve of Budget Protest

Tuesday 27 October

Help the government hear our Welfare not Warfare message on the eve of the budget. We don’t want more money for arms – we want our schools, hospitals and councils properly funded.

Join us to call on Andy Burnham to do the right thing.

Tuesday 27 October

6pm

London, Victoria Embankment to Downing Street

Students and Youth Against War

Young people across the country have been getting organised. Students are tired of seeing military recruitment on their campuses, and they reject being corralled into research and development careers for arms companies.

That’s why on the 20 November we are calling on students and young people across the UK to organise action at schools, colleges and universities.

Click the button below to find out about actions happening near you, and make sure you join our WhatsApp group to stay in-the-know. Contact us if you need any support with organising where you are.

Together Alliance Summits

Half a million took to the streets in March to stand up to the far-right. But a single day of protest isn’t enough. Stop the War is supporting the Together Summits to help organise the next step in the fight against the far-right.

The summits will take place in Manchester on 17 October and Londonon 24 October.

Book your tickets now and join us.
