[ICAN UK] Upcoming Scottish CND talks open to international attendees

Posted: 20th October 2026

Dear ICAN colleagues,

I write to inform you of two upcoming Scottish CND online events that may be of interest to some.

Firstly, we are hosting Dave Cullen, policy fellow and programme manager at BASIC, to discuss the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty on the 30th year since its adoption by the UN. You may register for free

Scottish CND Chair Lynn Jamieson will provide a campaigning perspective on the nuclear test ban, why it is important for the anti-nuclear movement and what lessons can be learned from its relative longevity/success compared to other international arms-control agreements.

Secondly, the first session of our Ulla Klötzer from World BEYOND War, Jean-Marie Collin of ICAN France and Sophie Bolt, General Secretary of Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament on a panel to discuss the status of nuclear weapons politics in Europe.

In particular, we will hear about northern Europe’s apparent pivot to nuclear weapons hosting, French efforts at “extended deterrence” and the vertical proliferation policies of nuclear armed states.

You can register to attend this session of our AGM AGM will involve procedural matters for Scottish CND members only.

We hope to see campaign allies from the UK and wider continent at these events!

Kind regards,

—
