This week marked 18 years since millions took to the streets of London to protest the Iraq War.
This moment was the birth of an anti-war movement that has endured right up to this day and is needed now as much as ever.
The British government is now the major Western backer of the war in Yemen.
President
Joe Biden has suspended arms sales to Saudi already. Italy followed suit. That leaves Boris Johnson front and centre, supporting a war that’s responsible for the largest humanitarian crisis on earth.
It’s time for the anti-war movement to force another u-turn. Sign Our Petition to the Prime Minister
Last
week we learned that our
shameless Government wasted no time in selling £1.4bn in weapons to Saudi Arabia
once the High Court’s ban on arms sales was lifted last summer.
British
weapons from British companies like BAE Systems can be directly traced to deaths from bombing and disease in Yemen. So far a staggering 233,000 lives have been lost.
We
need as many people as possible to sign this petition and send a clear message to Boris Johnson:
we want no part in this war.
I’ll
never forget February 15th 2003 and the millions of people marching through London to stop the invasion of Iraq.
The
impact of that day is still being felt.
Since
2003 we’ve continued to resist the military adventures of successive British governments – and the death and destruction they wreak.
We must continue to do the same
for Yemen.
Start
by adding your voice to the petition today.
In solidarity,
Lindsey German, Stop the War Convenor
