Fear-mongering and more military spending hikes won’t keep us safe. We need to Protest and Survive.
Defence Secretary, Wes Streeting, is arguing that Britain has 1,000 days to get war-ready. His statement follows the release of ‘Be Ready’, government guidelines urging the population to stock up on water and food in order to survive a climate-related catastrophe, cyber-attack or act of hostile state terrorism.
This fear-mongering rhetoric is a dangerous attempt to whip up war fever against Russia. As we all know, any such war with Russia risks a nuclear war. This must be prevented at all costs.
Amidst this war-frenzy, the Chancellor looks set to push through even further increases in military spending when he delivers the autumn budget on Wednesday.
Now more than ever, we grow the opposition to this accelerating war drive. We need to come together to protest and survive.

Kick out Trump’s Spy base! Protestors battle the elements to call for the Shut Down of RAF Menwith Hill.
CND, Yorkshire CND and Menwith Hill Accountability Campaign staged a demonstration outside RAF Menwith Hill on Saturday, calling for the closure of the largest US spy base in the world outside of the US. Sited in Yorkshire, RAF Menwith Hill is one of the most strategically significant US overseas bases and is at the heart of making the world more dangerous.
Despite heavy rain and wind, there was a defiant atmosphere as protestors marched around the perimeter of the base to reach the main gates. Once there, campaigners struck inflatable golf balls as part of a protest stunt. The golf balls represented the base’s radomes, which are large structures that shield giant radars.
Thank you to all of our amazing members and supporters who participated in this important demonstration. You can find out more through the news coverage we received here, here.
Emergency Protest called by the Palestine Coalition: Hands Off the West Bank! End Apartheid!
Assemble 6pm, Monday 26 October
Downing Street
Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people is continuing unabated. We are now seeing an escalation of settler violence in the West Bank, with Palestinian villages and communities suffering attacks and displacement.
This is just further evidence of nuclear-armed Israel’s impunity. Governments like Britain need to be doing more. We need full sanctions on the entire state of Israel and a two-way arms embargo. As members of the national Palestine Coalition, CND will be supporting this important demonstration.
Join us as we call for “Hands Off the West Bank!” and an end to Israeli genocide and apartheid.
