That escalated quickly! At the weekend, Jenn Forbes, Chair of Your Party, posted a petition on the parliament website demanding the government launch a public inquiry into the UK’s role in the Gaza genocide.

At the time of writing, more than 35,000 people have signed!

We need to get to 100,000 signatures for the petition to be considered for debate in parliament.

The petition comes after Andy Burnham’s government last week formally rejected Jeremy Corbyn’s call for a public inquiry into British complicity in the genocide, saying it wasn’t necessary as parliament can hold the government to account.

But we’re now more than three years into a genocide in which parliament has shamefully failed in that duty.

As the text of the petition says, we need an inquiry with the power to question government ministers and officials to get to the bottom of what arms have been supplied to Israel, how the RAF has been used to gather intelligence for Israel, and what legal advice our government has on whether genocide has been taking place.
