Stop Trident: Today’s the day
A big thank you to the over 40,000 of you that have signed CND’s Stop Trident petition. Each and every one of you will be represented today when that petition is handed in to the Ministry of Defence by our General Secretary, Kate Hudson
Today of course is when MPs will vote on whether we go ahead with a new nuclear weapons system.
- Nuclear weapons are not only immoral but also illegal under international law, as they kill innocent people indiscriminately.
- A new nuclear weapons system would cost at least £205 billion, money which would be better spent on hospitals, homes or education.
- The government itself declares that the current threats we face today are terrorism, climate change and cyber-attacks. Trident would be useless against these.
- Developments in underwater drones will make nuclear submarines detectable and an easy target.
For all of these reasons and more,
CND wants to Stop Trident. If you agree, join us this evening for an
emergency protest outside Parliament.
