CND Annual Conference, London, October 9-10th
This began with an international conference ‘No to Nuclear Weapons and War: The global challenge for the 21st. Century’ with many expert speakers.
At the business sessions many resolutions were discussed. Among them were briefly:
(1) in view of Israel’s intransigence over nuclear weapons, to continue supporting the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, non-violent attempts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, and a peaceful and just resolution for Palestinians.
(2) to highlight the true implications of US’s continued development of ‘Missile Defence’ and support opposition to it in Britain.
(3) urge the UK government to support a third UN resolution on uranium weapons with the aim of banning the use of depleted uranium in warfare.
Much more information is available in Southampton CND’s recent October newsletter and from national CND on their websites, or in print version from Kathrine.
No-one from Salisbury was able to go to Conference this year.
