COP26 – Nuclear Power and Climate Change – INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT
Til: [email protected]

Dear friends,

as you may be aware, COP26 is approaching fast (starting Nov 2, 2021).

The nuclear (and even the uranium) industry is advertising itself as a ‘saviour’ from climate change and its impacts, and in some parts of the world, it is flooding the media with such ‘news’ / propaganda.
We all know nuclear will NOT safe the world from climate change and its impacts.

In the face of this situation, a clear statement from NGOs is needed, rejecting the nuclaer industry’s narrative and setting the record straight: Renewable Energy sources are the way to go, not nuclear power.

For more information, please visit “Dont nuke the Climate” https://dont-nuke-the-climate.org/

A group of NGOs drafted an INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT directed towards COP26, highlighting the shortcomings and problems of nuclear power, and calling for a renewable energy future.

Please find the INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT here: https://dont-nuke-the-climate.org/cop-26-statement

We are aware that not every aspect of nuclear vs. renewables can be addressed in such a statement, and tried to keep it short and ‘readable’.

We ask you – your NGO – to consider signing on to this INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT to give civil society / NGOs a strong clear voice at COP26 againat nuclear power and for renewable energies.

Signing can be done right on the end of the STATEMENT website.

The deadline for signing on to the STATEMENT is 20. October 2021.

Acutally, we are looking for NGO signatures, not individual signatures.
We will go public with the statement BEFORE COP26 starts on Nov 2, 2021.

I am well aware that some addressed aren’t NGOs. May we ask you to PLEASE forward the INTERNATIONAL STATEMENT to NGOs you know and who might be interested to sign on.
Some of the persons addressed are journalists – it would be great if you help to publish the statement AFTER 20. Oct., not before.

For any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

take care,

Gunter
