Salisbury CND joined with other groups from around the country to celebrate 60 years of CND activity. The celebration took place at AWE Aldermaston, a riot of colour against a sinister backdrop. For those of you who didn’t make it, we hope these pictures convey a flavour of the event. There was music and singing together with speeches from iconic CND supporters from the beginnings to the present day. There was a sense that the madness of nuclear weapons must be becoming increasingly apparent and the squandering of resources associated with their continued production sits ever more uncomfortably in today’s world. The new UN treaty banning nuclear weapons will become an important focus for future campaigning.
