Thank you to everyone who has attended our public meetings and protests in the last few weeks to oppose the war in Ukraine.
Our message has been clear: we condemn the Russian invasion and demand an immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. But we also recognise the aggressive role of NATO and that our own government is not an innocent bystander in this war.
Only this week, as peace negotiations were reportedly making progress, Boris Johnson told his cabinet he wanted to provide Ukraine with “more lethal” military aid. At the same time we are facing a massive attack on our standards of living. Our government fails to help buffer the economic crisis but doesn’t hesitate to supply billions for the war chest.
In the coming weeks, we need to intensify our campaign to ensure that our politicians recognise that as well as being a disaster for the people of Ukraine, the Russian invasion could spark a much wider conflict beyond its borders.
The ongoing impact of the anti-war movement on public opinion has been profound and is a major reason behind the fact that the British public still opposes direct intervention in Ukraine, despite huge propaganda.
Stop the War in Ukraine – Russian Troops Out – No NATO Expansion – No Nuclear War
These are four demands that clearly set out a position which can and will find favour with the public. We must continue to put our case forward confidently and keep campaigning.
