Cherry tree tunnel opens for 1st time in 12 years after Fukushima nuclear disaster

TOMIOKA, Fukushima—The “tunnel of flowers” in the Yonomori district here, one of the most famous spots to view cherry blossoms in northern Japan’s Tohoku region, is drawing excited visitors for the first time in 12 years following the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster.
