Government claims releasing nuclear safety assessment would risk national security

The government has refused to release the one word safety assurance rating for its internal nuclear safety regulator, saying that to do so would risk national security. Read more.

MoD will not refuel HMS Victorious

The MoD has decided not to refuel the second oldest Vanguard-class submarine when it begins its deep maintenence period, unlike the older HMS Vanguard. Read more.

Up to 5,000 barrels of Higher Activity Waste will be transported to Cumbria for treatment and storage under the plan. Read more.

A judge at Reading Magistrates’ Court awarded the £1m fine over an incident described as an “accident waiting to happen”. Read more.

Safety issues may call time on Burghfield warhead assembly plant

The Office for Nuclear Regulation required immediate changes to be made at the warhead assembly plant and threatened to shut down work altogether unless progress was made on safety. Read more.
