An appeal from Kate Hudson

Posted: 4th August 2022

In August 1945 nuclear weapons were exploded on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing hundreds of thousands of people.

Please donate to CND today and help us win a world where this horror will never happen again.

Seventy-seven years ago this month, the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by nuclear weapons. In the first few days, as many as 250,000 people died. Innocent men, women and children were vaporised. Others perished in the destruction of their homes. Still more suffered lingering, painful deaths from injuries and radiation.

This – the first and only use of nuclear weapons in a war – is without doubt one of the most terrible episodes in all human history.

I urge you now to help make sure this barbarity never happens again – by doing all you can to help CND work towards a world without nuclear weapons.

You’ve already shown that you share our concerns. But the fact is, to mark this tragic anniversary, we need your support now as much as ever.

Will you donate and help us speak out against the madness of nuclear weapons?

Yes, I will donate

With your support we can keep on working for a nuclear-free world. Together we can make sure there is never another Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

This year, the world has come closer perhaps than it has ever been to the brink of war between nuclear-armed states. Now more than ever, one thing is clear: we must get rid of all nuclear weapons if mankind is to avoid the madness of self-destruction.

We’re working hard to organise demonstrations and protests, to organise public meetings and events both online and in-person, to lobby MPs, trade unions and faith leaders, to produce research and publications, leaflets and briefinds, to campaign online – all essential ways of getting our message out to as wide an audience as possible.

These are vital steps towards achieving the ultimate goal of a nuclear weapons-free world. But to make this work possible, we rely upon the financial support of people like you. We need to raise at least £20,000; it sounds like a lot, but I know we can raise the funds if everyone pitches in to help.

Please send a contribution to help fund our crucial campaigns – it could do so much.

Your donation will give us the resources and the confidence to carry on speaking out for change. Put simply, your gift will be the most effective way possible of helping to ensure that future generations never have to endure the horrors experienced at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I hope I can count on your support.

In peace,

Kate Hudson
