Have you ever thought about how activists and sci-fi writers are similar? While authors build fictional worlds on paper, activists channel that same visionary energy into our current reality by fighting for policy changes, building community, and refusing to remain silent in the face of injustice.
Activism is future building and this weekend, on the anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, join supporters from around the world as we fold a peace crane and share our vision for a nuclear-free world.
As you fold your crane, create a vision for our shared future. What does a future without nuclear weapons mean to you? How would it affect you, your family, and your community? What would this future feel like?
Please post your picture and your vision for a world without nuclear weapons to social media between August 5 and 9. When posting, remember to connect your post to everyone else’s by using the hashtag #CranesForOurFuture, and check out what other activists are saying on Instagram!
We are committed to abolishing nuclear weapons in our lifetime. Let’s see what future we can build together.
In Solidarity
