Two hundred candle dishes mingled with lanterns sent over from Hiroshima in Japan. They all drifted down river together in the centre of Salisbury from Fisherton Street Bridge to Crane Street, witnessed by crowds on the bridges and river bank. The lanterns sent from Hiroshima were decorated specially by art club students of Danbara Junior High School in Hiroshima. The Mayor of Hiroshima sent a letter to honour the occasion and further cement the links between our two cities.
