A UK air force base, in reality a US Air Force staging ground, has been recategorized to receive US nuclear weapons, the first time since 2008. CND is protesting this dangerous move. More than 700 people qualify as victims of French atomic testing in Algeria. So far, only one has been compensated. That needs to change write Jean-Marie Collin, Patrice Bouveret and Merzak Remki.

What France owes to Algeria
France carried out 17 atomic tests in Algeria, leaving the landscape radioactively contaminated and a legacy of negative health effects. It’s now past time, write three French experts, for the French government to conduct environmental restitution and make the compensation avenues more accessible, especially since only one Algerian has been compensated so far out of 723 eligible.
