Radioactive elements can get into our drinking water from a number of sources and we’re all drinking it. But current regulations are inadequate in detecting them, reports Lynne Peeples with Ensia. The frenzied enthusiasm for nuclear power continues, with a complete failure to consider the most secure and affordable options, which aren’t nuclear.

Environmental Working Group says more than 170 million Americans in all 50 states are drinking water that contains radioactive elements at levels that may increase the risk of cancer. The wrong rush to nuclear
Rather than rushing ahead with nuclear power, we should be looking to the most reliable, secure and affordable energy sources.
