What happened next?
In November 2020, we revealed that the government was mishandling Freedom of Information requests, forcing the government to commit to reforms.
But now, it has emerged that our investigation was flagged by a secretive government ‘misinformation’ unit.
Big Brother Watch has revealed that the little-known unit conducted “significant levels of surveillance”, including flagging criticism of government policy under the guise of tackling misinformation.
