Burning down the house

The Biden administration’s decision to fund a massive oil and gas drilling project in the Alaskan Arctic came in the same week that the IPCC issued its most dire climate warnings yet. The climate scientists identify renewables and efficiency, not nuclear power, as the obvious climate priorities. Yet our governments, and the media who quote, them seem deaf to the extreme global crisis we face. READ MORE

Defense spending madness

Biden’s FY 2024 defense budget request is $886 billion, far more than is needed to defend the country and its allies, writes William Hartung. Congressional add-ons could even push it to $1 trillion and more than half will go to weapons contractors. These funds need to be cut back, something the People over Pentagon Act, led by Reps.
