Nuclear Energy

  • The shutdown of the Xcel Energy’s nuclear plant in Minnesota last week killed at least 230 fish due to a change in the temperature of the Mississippi River. The plant was temporarily powered down to facilitate repairs of a leak – which over time had released 1.5 million litres of radioactive water and prompted fears it may have seeped into the ground.

North Korea

  • US and South Korea conducted a mass exercise on Wednesday simulating a beach assault, amid a week of regular missile tests by North Korea.

Foreign Affairs

  • The Morning Star on the financial links between the world’s leading foreign policyand security think tanks and companies involved in nuclear weapons.
