Ignoring the lessons from the Gulf War, Kosovo and Iraq, it was revealed last week that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) would provide Ukraine with armor-piercing rounds containing depleted uranium.
After countless foreign misadventures, Britain and its NATO allies are not willing to learn from their mistakes and continue to increase the supply of arms to Ukraine, directly fanning the war and prolonging the suffering of the Ukrainian people. With no voices calling for negotiations in parliament or the media it is up to the anti-war movement to push for peace.
Those that say the only way to end the war is through greater militarisation are the same people that led us into the illegal Iraq war and the failed invasion and occupation of Afghanistan. The very same people that cheered on the bombing of Libya and plunged it into the failed state it remains today.
These futile wars have killed and displaced millions and have created huge waves of refugees, which our government demonises and scapegoats. And now we have a proxy war in Europe between Russia and NATO, and the threat of another with China.
But all is not in vain. Across Europe the anti-war movement is growing, with mass protests in Germany, Italy and France.
To counter the never-ending pro-war propaganda we must continue building our movement here in the UK. To do this we need your help.
By becoming a member of Stop the War today you will not only help build our movement but will provide us with much needed regular funds so we can put on more meetings, produce more materials and get our message across.
