Teesside’s beaches have become the subject of concern for environmental groups as small balls, believed to have originated from a nuclear power station, have been spotted. An extensive survey is currently underway in Teesside to document the number of small balls that have washed up on its beaches. These sponge and rubber balls are typically utilised for cleaning the cooling system of the Hartlepool nuclear power station. However, a few of these balls have ended up in the ocean, causing concern among local environmental groups.
