CND appeal

Hundreds of people like you have supported our campaign to challenge the government’s twisted spending priorities: more money for nuclear weapons but next to nothing extra for public services.

The good news is that we’re now over three-quarters of the way towards our fundraising target – but we still need to raise around £4,000 if we’re to raise all the money needed to effectively campaign for policy change.

Can you help us get all the way there by making a much-needed donation today?

In the spring budget announcement, Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt revealed plans for a massive increase in military spending, including even more money for nuclear weapons.

They want to increase military spending by an extra £5 billion in the next two years alone - most of which is going on nuclear. Over the next five years there will be a total increase of £11 billion. They also announced their ‘aspiration’ to spend 2.5% of GDP on ‘defence’ – more than any other European country.

This is a huge increase in spending on weapons and warfare. But there was next to no extra money announced for our public services – our schools, our hospitals, our homes, our social care, or any commitment to real support for doctors, nurses, teachers and other public sector workers.

We cannot let the government’s plans go unchallenged. We cannot allow them to spend £billions on weapons of mass destruction while essential public services are underfunded and struggling to cope with increasing demand.

Please, donate today and help oppose these policies.

Your donation will make a huge difference to our ability to campaign for policy change: to organise meetings, print leaflets and briefings, pay for banners, placards and staging for demonstrations, to run online adverts – for all the work needed to make the government know the scale of public opposition to their spending plans, which prioritise weapons and war, not prosperity and peace.

Hundreds have already added their voice to our campaign. Please join them if you can by making a donation today.

In peace,

Kate Hudson
